Authentic Thai Glutinous Rice, also known as 'Sticky Rice' & 'Sweet Rice'.
It is called glutinous in the sense of being glue-like or sticky and not in the sense of containing gluten. It is commonly used for the popular dish of sticky rice balls.
And it can be served with many other dishes such as 'Som Tam' [Papaya Salad] or with grilled meat, black beans or with banana as a dessert.
Cooking Instructions:[Allow 50g of glutinous rice per person].
Stove:
- Soak glutinous rice [proportion 1:3]overnight or at least 3 hours in hot water.- Drain the glutinous rice, and place it in a steamer.- Cook until the rice becomes tender [about 25-30 mins] after the water has begun to boil.
